Victory and podium finishes in ADAC F4

After a positive result a few weeks ago at the Red Bull Ring where we saw all three drivers on the podium with Marcus Armstrong and Juri Vips both taking a win, plus Juan Manuel Correa taking a second place, the team had high hopes for the  fourth round of this season at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

It was a dramatic start to Saturday morning as no power at the track caused a two hour delay on the qualifying session, which in turn cut the session short to 20 minutes. The Prema Theodore Racing drivers took to the track first trying to set flying laps before the traffic begun, Armstrong ended P3, Vips P9 and Correa P20 for the first race of the weekend.

At the lights Marcus Armstrong launched into the lead, Estonian Vips gained four places to P5  as did Correa gaining three going into P7. Drama struck as Correa ran off the track dropping him to P22, resulting in a P19 finish as he was only able to pass a few cars before the end of the race.  Juri Vips maintained his P5 drive although having Malukas close in his wing mirrors, but it was Kiwi Armstong who scored his third victory so far this season.

Race 2 saw Armstrong pull off the grid in P2 and cruised to the finish line with ease without having to defend his position. Correa who started P6 lit up the timing screens setting purple sectors as he over took his rivals for P4 but had to defend Nielsen till the end of the race after having passed the Danish driver in earlier laps. Waldherr experienced pressure from Juri Vips who took P7 from the German, after initially starting P8. Vips then gained another place finishing in P6.  Ending the weekend in Oschersleben Juri Vips jumped up the order at the start from P5 to P3, passing Schramm before gaining on P2. Unfortunately the gap was too big and was unable to find a way through, but scored a valuable podium finish.

Having won Race one the day before, Marcus Armstrong started P10 and had a flying start slotting into P7. The Kiwi managed to get by Zendeli for P6 where he remained for the duration of the race. After a disappointing Race 2 Juan Manuel Correa set off in P19 and fought hard throughout the race managing to pass Weerts for P17 and settled for the position as he crossed the finishing line.

The team leaves on a good result with Juri Vips currently holding the Drivers Championship as Prema Theodore Racing maintains the Team Championship. ADAC F4 now has a months break until the next round at the famous Nurburgring 4th-6th August.

“Good weekend in Oschersleben. We felt quite comfortable from the beginning as we were quickest in Free practice. In qualifying I felt that I did a good job and also the car felt good but we only managed third. Race 1 went to plan, we took the lead on the opening lap and won the race. Race 2 we finished second and in the reverse grid race we collected good points with sixth. Overall we won the weekend, so it’s good that we are always improving.
