Win at Vallelunga in Italian F4 Championship
A month on since Round 2 at Adria Raceway where the Prema Theodore Racing team scored two podiums, the team headed to a sunny Vallelunga for the next round of the Italian F4 Championship.
Saturday saw both qualifying sessions take place in the morning. In Qualifying 1 Marcus Armstrong narrowly missed out on pole taking P2 with Enzo Fittipaldi settling for P8. The second session which followed immediately saw Kiwi Armstrong take pole position for Race 2 after pushing the car to it’s limits. Fittipaldi claimed P12 for the start of the second race.

As the lights went green for Race 1 Armstrong held onto P3 with ease. For his team-mate Enzo Fittipaldi the race was cut short due to contact in the opening laps. As the end of the race loomed, Armstrong overtook rival Petrov for P2 after a long battle with the Russian driver and held onto the position till the end of the race.
Race 2 saw Marcus Armstrong win from pole position. The Ferrari Academy Driver had a clean run off the start but had to defend hard against fellow competitor Drugovich before creating a 1.5 second gap to second and third as he took the chequered flag. It was a solid run from Fittipaldi who remained in P12 till the finish.
The last race at Vallelunga saw Enzo Fittipaldi take his second rookie podium finish of the weekend. The Brazilian ended Race 3 in P14. Marcus Armstrong finished P4, having applied pressure to Festante through the whole race for P3.
The next round of the Italian F4 Championship will be held at Mugello on 14-16th July, just three weeks away.
Marcus Armstrong -
“A good weekend in Vallelunga. We made good progress from free practice and qualified on the front row in both qualifyings, including our second pole of the season. In the races we worked hard to maintain our tyre life and always finish the race strong. We finished 2nd, 1st & 4th. A strong points haul. It’s unsatisfying to leave the weekend on a 4th but we can all be proud of what we accomplish.”
